Five ECFC Student-Athletes Earn CoSIDA Football Academic All-District Honors

Five ECFC student-athletes were named to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Teams for football announced by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday.

The honor recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The criteria included being a starter or important reserve and having at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). The student-athlete must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution and must have completed at least one full academic year.

All five honorees will now be eligible for selection to the national Capital One Academic All-America squad which will be announced on Tuesday, December 4.

District 1

  • Kevin Alberque, Castleton (So, WR - Ridgefield Park, N.J. - 3.77 in Global Studies)
  • Stephen Gilmore, Norwich (Jr., LB - Norton, Mass. - 3.30 in Management)
  • Andrew Banuskevich, Norwich (Jr., P - Peterborough, N.H. - 3.83 in Spanish)

District 2

  • Adham Talaat, Gallaudet (Jr., DL - Springfield, Va. - 3.88 in Physical Education)

District 3

  • Martin Brown, Maritime (Sr., DL - Huntington Station, N.Y. - 3.53 in Marine operations)
