Bangor, ME – Husson University is pleased to announce that Gabby Price has been named the new head football coach. Price helped build the Husson football program starting in 2002, coaching the Eagles to a 7-3 record and a home ECAC Northeast Bowl game in 2008.

"I am humbled to have the opportunity to lead Husson University's football program again," new head coach Price stated. "Coach Murphy has done a good job of rebuilding a foundation and we hope to continue in a positive direction. I am excited to be coaching again as working with student athletes and helping them find success has always been very important to me. I'd like to thank President Clark along with Bob Reasso and his staff for the professionalism and support during this process."

Coach Price has spent his entire life serving the Bangor area as an educator and business man. He spent 12 years teaching in the Bangor school system before retiring in 1985. After retiring from teaching, he has continued to own and operate several Bangor businesses.

Price was a stand-out athlete in high school and college. He was named Athlete of the Year at Bangor High School in 1967 after being a three-sport star in football, basketball, and baseball. Coach Price spent a year as a post graduate at Bridgton Academy in Maine playing football before he began his college career at Rutgers University, NJ. He was inducted into the Bridgton Academy Hall of Fame in the spring of 2006. He played freshman football at Rutgers before transferring to the University of Maine, where he lettered two years at University of Maine as a fullback. He graduated with a bachelor of science in Education in 1973.

Gabby's storied coaching career began in 1973. Upon graduating from the University of Maine, he became an assistant coach at Bangor High School. During his three-year stint as an assistant coach, Bangor High School won two State Championships (1973, 1975). Coach Price was then named head coach in 1976. He would continue as head coach at Bangor High School on two different occasions from 1976-1984 and again from 1992-2000. Coach Price would amass a career record of 129-52 during his 18 years at Bangor High and his teams made the playoffs 15 out of 18 years. In all, Coach Price as head coach would lead Bangor High School to the state championship game 6 times in his 18 years, winning the State Championship in 1979 and 1981.

"We are extremely fortunate to have Coach Price return to Husson to lead our football program forward," Husson President Bob Clark said of the hiring. "His continued commitment to Husson's student athletes both on and off the field will be a valuable asset to our University's future successes."

Price led the Eagles to several milestones in his tenure including the programs first win in 2004 versus Southern Virginia, Hartwick and Division I FCS La Salle in 2006, Division II Pace in 2007 and the home ECAC Bowl game in 2008 against Saint John Fisher.

"We couldn't be more delighted to have Gabby Price back at Husson as our head football coach," Husson Director of Athletics Bob Reasso added. "Gabby is an outstanding coach who cares about his student athletes and winning the right way. I have gotten to know Gabby over the last couple years and I am so happy that he is part of our Husson Athletics family. I am sure, under Gabby's leadership, our football program will continue the rebuilding process and be contending for the ECFC Championship in the near future."
