Junior quarterback Bobby Baker threw for a school record 491
yards in an impressive 34-7 win over Husson College on Saturday
evening. In addition to the 491 yards in the air, Baker threw four
touchdowns and ran for another while also leading the Hawks with 43
rushing yards.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nick Coffiey,
Maritime (N.Y.)
(So, DE - Wilmington, Del.)
Coffiey had the best day ever for a Maritime defensive end.
He was the leading tackler in the Privateers' homecoming loss to
William Paterson, 21-14, on Saturday. He picked up 10 tackles
(eight solo and two assisted), including 4.5 for combined losses of
16 yards. Two of those tackles for loss were sacks that dropped the
Pioneers' a combined 12 yards. He also blocked a punt with 12
seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to give Maritime a chance
to tie the game.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nick Elstad,
Gallaudet
(Jr, RB - Colorado Springs, Colo.)
Nick Elstad returned a kickoff 88 yards for a touchdown late
in the second quarter to give Gallaudet a 35-3 lead. Early in
the third quarter, Elstad converted a fake field goal when the
junior running back ran in from 20 yards.
Co-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK
Trevor Terrell, Mount
Ida
(Fr., SS - Lenape, N.J.)
Freshman Trevor Terrell had a game-changing play in the third
quarter blocking a Norwich punt, picking up the ball and returning
it into the end zone pulling the Mustangs within three points,
25-22. The punt block shifted momentum in a game that Mount Ida
would eventually pull out in the final seconds.
Todd Bonheyo, Gallaudet
(Fr, QB - Frederick, Md.)
Bonheyo ran for two touchdowns and threw for two scores in the
first half last Saturday as the Bison rolled 52-24 over Anna Maria.
The freshman quarterback ran for 169 yards on 15 carries and scored
twice in back-to-back possessions with a 17 and 59-yard touchdown
runs, respectively. Bonheyo completed 6-of-12 passes for 109 yards
and two touchdowns and one interception.
