OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Danny Triplett,
Norwich
(Sr, RB - Haverhill, Mass.)
Triplett exploded for a season-high 147 rushing yards
including two touchdown runs in front of a large Homecoming crowd
on Saturday afternoon. The senior running back carried the ball 19
times on the afternoon and averaged 7.7 yards per carry. His long
of 40 yards came on his second touchdown run of the day.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Matt Simonelli,
Norwich
(Sr, DL - Scituate, R.I.)
Senior captain Simonelli led the Cadets defensively to a 3-0
record after Saturday's win against WPI by recovering a fumble and
running 44 yards to score the first defensive touchdown of the
season for Norwich. He added eight tackles (seven solo), including
one tackle for loss, for the Norwich defense that held their
opponent to just three three points.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kyle Gregg,
Becker
(So, RB - Charlotte, N.C.)
Gregg returned five kickoffs for an average of 29.4 yards
per kick including a touchdown. Just five minutes into the game
following a Hartwick TD to knot the score at 7-7, Gregg returned
the kickoff 89 yards to give the Hawks the lead. The sophomore
running back also added a score on the ground late in the fourth
quarter.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Michael Perrone,
Castleton
Perrone made his third straight start on Saturday,
tying a career high with three solo tackles and finishing with five
overall. In addition to his five tackles he also recovered a fumble
in the fourth quarter which led to a Castleton touchdown on the
ensuing drive. He currently ranks fifth on the team in tackles with
