The 2012 season kicked off Friday night with ECFC squads posting two home victories.

Mount Ida defeated UMass.-Dartmouth 24-21 on a late 47-yard field goal from senior Bobby Hemmann. The Mustangs, down 13-0 mid-way through the second quarter, scored on a 2-yard Scott Drosendahl run late in the first half. Mount Ida's quarterback threw for two second half touchdowns leading the Mustangs out to a 21-13 lead before Hemmann's game-winning heriocs.

Becker took advantage of four Fitchburg State turnovers to earn a 13-3 victory. Kyle Gregg scored on a three yard scamper late in the first quarter while Robert Baker connected with Corinthian Bostic on a 14 yard pass just before halftime for the Hawks.

AMCATS' senior Santino Simone amassed 126 yards of total offense, including 94 through the air, but it wasn't enough for the Anna Maria offense as the 'CATS were downed by host Worcester State University 56-10 in non-conference football action this evening at Coughlin Field.

Saturday's action has Castleton at home against Plymouth State, Norwich welcoming Western New England and Husson hosting Hartwick while Gallaudet is on the road at Otterbein.
