Senior quarterback Scott Drosendahl completed 11-of-13
passes for 155 yards and a touchdown while also running for two
scores Saturday afternoon to lift the Mount Ida College football
program to a 22-12 victory over Plymouth State University in
non-conference football action at Currier Field for their second
straight victory to start the 2012 season.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Keith Barnes,
Maritime (N.Y.)
(Sr, LB - Westbury, N.Y./Westbury)
Barnes picked up right where he left off last season,
leading all players with 16 tackles, including three for combined
losses of seven yards, in the Privateers' 20-14 season-opening
victory over Mass. Maritime Friday night in the Annual Chowder
Bowl. The reigning ECFC Co-Defensive Player of the Year also had
one sack for a loss of three yards.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jamal Mitchell, Anna
Maria

Jamal Mitchell set a school record for the longest field
goal made, when he connected on a 48-yard attempt in the 4th
quarter of Anna Maria's 34-14 win over visiting Maine Maritime
Academy. Mitchell, whose first FG of the game, a 28-yarder, broke a
7-7 tie was also perfect on extra points, going 4-for-4 in the
contest.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Bj Flores,
Gallaudet
(Fr, RB - Raymondville, Texas)
Freshman running back BJ Flores helped to put away Gallaudet
University's historic win on Friday night at Catholic University of
America as the Bison defeated the Cardinals, 47-27, to earn the
first-ever win over Catholic since the rivalry began in 1906.
Flores carried the ball nine times in the fourth quarter for 76
yards and two touchdowns to secure the win. He finished the game
with 14 carries for 99 yards, all career highs. Flores' touchdown
runs were 22 yards and seven yards, respectively, on back-to-back
GU drives in the fourth quarter that helped to extend Gallaudet's
lead to 47-21.
