CENTERVILLE, Mass. — Husson University senior defensive lineman Ernest Wiggins (Bridgeport, Conn.) was named the Defensive Player of the Year on the 2013 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Football North All-Star team. The ECFC was well represented as seven of the eight members (sans SUNY Maritime) had one honoree on the first or second team. Gallaudet led all ECFC programs with three selections. Husson University had two honorees led by ECAC North Defensive Player of the Year Ernest Wiggins.
Wiggins was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Year after a dominant season on the Eagles' defensive line. He accounted for 74 tackles this season, with 17.5 of them coming behind the line of scrimmage. Wiggins also racked up eight sacks and forced a pair of fumbles from his defensive tackle position. He was named the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Defensive Player of the Year and recently participated in the National Bowl Game at Florida International University as one of the top-100 non-FBS football players in the country.

The ECAC is the nation's largest athletic and the only multi-divisional conference in the country with approximately 300 Division I, II, and III colleges and universities.
