The 2013 season kicked off Friday night with ECFC squads posting two road victories.
Trailing by four with 1:34 left, Becker strung together an eight play, 67-yard drive to find the end zone and complete its comeback victory over Fitchburg State 35-33. Quarterback Robert Baker connected on a swing pass out of the back field with Matthew Romasco who scampered ten yards up the far sideline for the end zone with 0:08 remaining in regulation.
Mount Ida erased a 12-0 deficit and scored two touchdowns in the third quarter to defeat UMass Dartmouth 21-20 in non-conference football action and the first game for each time on Friday night at Cressy Field.
Four more ECFC teams will be the visiting squads in Saturday's action with Castleton on the road against Plymouth State, Norwich traveling to Rensselaer, Husson making the trip to Hartwick while Gallaudet is at Shenandoah. Anna Maria is lone school playing at home as they will face Worcester State. Maritime starts their season next week.
