A potential game-winning 33-yard field goal, with 15 seconds left in regulation, by Mount Ida fell short as Gallaudet survived Saturday's 7-6 defensive showdown on the road in the ECFC opener at Alumni Field in Newton, Massachusetts.
Norwich posted a 20-9 victory over Becker. The Cadets got first quarter touchdowns from senior running back Mike Cavanaugh and junior running back Al Georgio to jump on top 14-0 after the opening 15 minutes, en route to their second straight victory and their first at their newly-renovated $6-million stadium.
Behind a career-rushing day of junior fullback Kyle Gardner, Maritime picked up its first win of the season defeating Anna Maria 35-24. Gardner led all rushers with 221 yards on the ground, and also scored a pair of touchdowns for the Privateers. Maritime also got two rushing touchdowns out of freshman quarterback Ryan Heizman.
Husson football bested Castleton 35-3. Newly appointed starting quarterback Joe Seccareccia completed 12 of 17 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns.
