OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Robert Small, Anna Maria
(Sr, RB - Sleepy Hollow, N.Y.)
Small rushed for 225 yards on 29 carries and three touchdowns in Anna Maria's 42-14 victory over Castleton. Small had TD runs of 44-yards and 3-yards for back-to-back scores for AMC to push the lead to 21-0 in the first half. He added a 4-yard scamper late in the 4th quarter. Small has now amassed exactly 1,000 yards on the season for the AMCATS in just 7 games.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dane Pallotto, Norwich
(Jr, DB - Westbrook, Conn.)
Pallotto recorded three interceptions in Saturday's 38-19 win against Mount Ida. Norwich scored on all three ensuing drives, starting with a 35-yard field goal following Pallotto's first interception at 5:03 in the first quarter, which gave the Cadets excellent field position at the Mount Ida 17-yard line. His interception at 1:59 in the first set up Norwich on their own 14-yard line and Pallotto's third interception of the day, placed the Norwich offense on their own 20-yard line.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chris Papacek, Gallaudet
(Fr, RB - Cuero, Texas)
Papacek made not one but two blocks against Becker last Saturday as the Bison won, 40-34, in dramactic fashion on the road. Papacek blocked Dejahn Dawkins' point after attempt after the Hawks scored a touchdown four minutes into the game. It would be Papacek's block at the end of the game that sparked Gallaudet's miracle win. Dawkins lined up for a 31-yard field goal with two seconds left in regulation and the game tied 34-34. Papacek came off the right edge, unblocked, and leaped and blocked the kick. The block sent the ball bouncing backwards where GU senior Ryan Bonheyo scooped up the loose ball, in stride, as he ran 79 yards to the end zone and the touchdown with no time left.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
D'Andre Smith, Mount Ida
(Fr, LB - Poughkeepsie, N.Y.)
Smith led the Mustangs with nine tackles defensively, broke up three passes and helped set the Mustangs up with superb field position all day with his kickoff returns. The freshman turned in 135 yards returning kickoffs. Though he is only credited with one return, Smith took several pitches from teammate Jovan Wilkins, and scampered for a 67 yard return himself.
