ROSELAND, N.J. – Senior Adham Talaat (Springfield, Va.) and junior Jaris Alleyne (Waldorf, Md.) were named to one of the 2013 Division III Preseason All-American teams as announced by USA Football News. Alleyne, a linebacker, and Talaat, a defensive end, were named to the third and fourth teams, respectively, on defense to represent Gallaudet University. The 2013 USA Football News Division III preseason All-American teams were selected by coaches, sports information directors, pro scouts, media and USA Football News staff.
The Bison duo helped lead the team to a 7-3 record last season as Gallaudet posted a 5-2 mark in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) play.
Alleyne is a two-time all-conference defender as he made his first appearance on the first team in 2012 after being selected to the second team defense during his freshman season. Last season, he played in nine games and recorded 73 tackles, two sacks, had one interception and forced one fumble and recovered another. He also tallied nine tackles for a loss of 39 yards. He had 10 or more tackles in three different games last season as he led the team in tackles.
Talaat was named to the ECFC second team defense at the end of last season. Talaat recorded 45 total tackles and 7.5 sacks last season. He also had 12.5 tackles for a loss, forced five fumbles and had a fumble recovery. Following a win against Becker in which Talaat recorded four tackles, 2.5 sacks, 3.5 tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble, he was named both the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III Northeast Defensive Player of the Week and the ECFC Defensive Player of the Week. Talaat was selected as an all-conference honorable mention on defense in 2011. Talaat is a 2012 Capital One Academic All-American Division III football second team performer. He also was named to the Capital One Academic All-District First Team for Division III for District 2. He is a two-time ECFC All-Academic team honoree. This past March he worked out for NFL scouts from the Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Eagles.
USA Football News selected 494 players to fill its four teams and a honorable mention list.
Gallaudet will open the season on Saturday, Sept. 7, in Virginia to take on Shenandoah University in a non-conference game under the lights at 7 p.m.
