2022 ECFC Weekly Release — Week #7

KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) has released its weekly award winners for games played through Saturday, October 15.

The following student-athletes have been honored for their standout performances.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Pat Quinn (Farmingdale, N.Y.), SUNY Maritime, So., WR
  • Quinn posted career-highs for receptions (9), yards (155), and touchdowns (3) against Castleton
  • Two of his three touchdowns gave Maritime the lead, which included a career-long 63-yard score with 1:46 remaining in the contest (33-29)
  • Eight of his nine catches went for 10 yards or more
  • In total, Quinn averaged 17.2 yards per catch on the afternoon

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kevin McDonough (Concord, N.H.), Castleton, So., LB
  • Compiled a game-high 10 tackles (4 solo, 1.5 TFL) in Castleton's 36-33 comeback win over Maritime
  • Sealed the game with his first career interception with 10 seconds remaining in the matchup 
  • The interception thwarted a potential game-tying field goal chance for the Privateers who were positioned at the Spartans' 40-yard line
  • Tied for the league lead in tackles on the week

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jayson Nami (Freehold Township, N.J.), Keystone, So., WR
  • Aided Keystone to its first NCAA victory versus Anna Maria, 41-39
  • Took a 97-yard kickoff return to the house to give Keystone a 27-13 cushion in the third quarter
  • It was the first touchdown of his career
  • Also had two tackles on special teams (both kickoffs)

CO-ROOKIES OF THE WEEK
Jackson Brand (Glens Falls, N.Y.), Castleton, So., WR
Zefan Nathanson (Manor, Texas), Gallaudet, Fr., DB


BRAND

  • Caught the game-winning touchdown (24-yards) with 48-seconds to play in Castleton's comeback victory
  • Finished the contest with three catches for 43 yards
  • Returned three kickoffs for 92 yards (long 42, average 30.7)
  • All three of his catches resulted in first downs

NATHANSON

  • His special teams play resulted in the game-winning TD for the Bison in their 26-23 victory over Dean
  • Blocked a punt at Dean's own 8-yard line, which eventually was recovered in the end zone to give Gallaudet its first lead of the game, 24-23, with 3:17 remaining
  • The blocked punt was the first of Nathanson's career
  • Gallaudet rallied from its largest deficit of the season, 17 points (23-6), to remain undefeated in ECFC play (3-0)

About the ECFC

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.

Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Castleton University (Castleton, VT.), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), Keystone College (La Plume, PA), and Maritime College State University of New York (Throggs Neck, NY).

The mission of the conference is to:

  1. Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors. 
  2. Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
  3. Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
