Husson Handles Alfred State, 31-13

Alfred, NY - Husson takes down Alfred State 31-13 in their home opener. The Pioneers falls to 1-2 on the season 

Justin Horvath went 19-27 with 154 yards with a longest competition of 40 yards. Jake Palmer had 18 rushes for 71 yards with a touchdown, while Josh Graham tallied 59 yards on the ground with a touchdown as well. Ben Ba led the receivers with five catches for 73 yards.  

On the defensive side of the ball, Jeremiah Nixon came away with 10 tackles and a sack. Silas Egenlauf tallied nine tackles with a sack as well. Rayshawn Powell had a good game as well, notching 1.5 sacks and seven tackles.

Husson got on the board first with a touchdown and the Pioneers answered with a touchdown on their first drive. The ASC drive started on their own 35. Palmer got his number called and rushed for 10 yards and the first down. A few plays later fourth down, Horvath found Rafeal Class for the first down. On the next play, Horvath found a gap up the middle for a 10-yard run and another first down. The Pioneers got the ball down to the two-yard line a few plays later, and Palmer punched it in to make it a 7-6 game.

The Eagles were able to score in the second quarter, to make it a 19-6 game. Later in the third quarter Alfred was able to get a fourth down stop in their own 29-yard line. With the momentum on their side, Horvath found Jazir Francois for a 16-yard completion. Then on the next play, Gramham found a hole on the left side for a 53-yard rush. Graham was able to punch it into the endzone for the touchdown to cut the Husson lead down to 19-13.

In the fourth quarter, Husson put in two touchdowns to get the win 31-13. The Pioneers will be back at home next weekend for a matchup against Hilbert on Saturday, Sept 23 at 1 pm.
