Alfred, N.Y. - The Pioneers move to 3-3 on the season behind a 41-15 victory over Lyon. Special teams gave Alfred State a big boost while Jake Palmer tallied three touchdowns.

Palmer came away with 239 total yards for the day with three touchdowns. Justin Horvath went 16-21 for 99 yards and two touchdowns. Maxwell DeMare was 7-7 on the day with five extra points and two field goals, including a 43 yarder. Noah Currier added a 94-yard kickoff return touchdown. While, both Danny Browning and Rylie Van Fleet tallied an interception.

The Scots got on the board first with a touchdown and a two-point conversion for the 8-0 lead. The Pioneers answered with 10 unanswered points, started with a DeMare 43-yard field goal that capped off the eight play 50-yard drive.

After a three-and-out, the Pioneers took over at their own eight-yard line. It would only take ASC 18 plays to take their first lead of the game. Horvath capped off the drive with a six-yard touchdown pass to Ben Ba for the 10-8 lead.

Lyon found the endzone early in the second quarter to regain the lead, 15-10. Currier and the return team wasted no time getting the lead back, as Currier streaked up the sideline for a 94-yard touchdown return.

From there, the Pioneers defense held the Scots scoreless for the rest of the game.

Later in the third quarter, Horvath and Palmer capped off a nine play, 55-yard drive with an 11-yard touchdown reception.

Then in the fourth quarter the Pioneers put up 17 points. Palmer got the fourth quarter started with a 25-yard touchdown run up the middle to take the 31-15 lead. A few drives later, Palmer found the endzone once again to expand the lead to 38-15. On the next Alfred drive, DeMare put the final nail in the coffin with a 30-yard field goal to take a commanding 41-15 lead.

The Pioneers will be back home next week for their conference opener against Anna Maria at 12 pm.
