Olivet Turns Away Alfred State

Olivet, MI – Alfred State falls against The University of Olivet 40-19 in a hard-fought battle. The Pioneers drop to 2-3 on the season.

Justin Horvath went 18-31 for 315 yards and three touchdowns. Jazir Francois came away with four receptions for 107 yards and two touchdowns, while Matthew Mancuso tallied three receptions for 72 yards and a touchdown.

Jeremiah Nixon led the way on defense with 12 tackles, including five solo tackles. Silas Egenlauf and Danny Browning both finished with double-digit tackles.

After Olivet got on the board first, the Pioneers answered with a three play 73-yard drive. Jake Palmer opened the drive with a one-yard rush, Noah Currier followed with a three-yard rush. Then on third down, Horvath found Jazir Francois for a 69-yard reception, to cut the lead down to 7-6.

Olivet answered with two touchdowns late in the first quarter, and early in the second quarter.

Later in the third quarter, ASC found the endzone again with another three-play drive. After a no gain completion, Horvath found Mancuso for an 11-yard gain and a first down. Following the first down, Horvath found Mancuso again, this time for a 54-yard touchdown to cut the deficit to 19-13.

Olivet scored two touchdowns, before the Pioneers answered late in the fourth quarter. Horvath capped off a six play 71-yard drive with a 10-yard pass to Francois in the endzone to make it a 40-19 game. Olivet would hang on to win.
