2022 ECFC Weekly Release — Week #4

KILLINGWORTH, CONN. — The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) has released its weekly award winners for games played through Saturday, September 24.

The following student-athletes have been honored for their standout performances.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Deandre Wallace (Waterbury, Conn.), Anna Maria, Jr., WR
  • Hauled in a career-high three touchdowns for the AMCATS
  • Compiled 102 yards on just three catches for an average of 34.0 yards per reception
  • Set season-highs for yards, yards per catch, longest reception (59 yards), and touchdowns
  • His first TD gave Anna Maria the lead in the first (7-0, 11:24), while his second score tied up the contest in the following quarter (12:34, 14-14)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Amari Cook (Bellport, N.Y.), Alfred State, Fr., DE
  • Registered 11 tackles (6 solo) including two sacks, three tackles for a loss, and a forced fumble in Alfred State's 42-33 victory over Defiance
  • Established new career-highs in every defensive category previously mentioned
  • His forced fumble led to a Pioneers' fourth quarter touchdown, which extended their lead to 35-19 at the time (7:05)
  • Tied for the league-high in tackles on the week

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dawson Fontaine (Bensalem, Pa.), Alfred State, Fr., K/P
  • Fontaine was automatic on PATs going 6-for-6 for the Pioneers
  • His six attempts and conversions both set career-highs
  • Currently 12-for-12 on PATs this season
  • Has averaged at least five points a game for Alfred State (four contests, 21 total)

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Justin Horvath (Grand Island, N.Y.), Alfred State, Fr., QB
  • Completed seven passes (11 attempts, 63.6%) for 119 yards and three touchdowns in his first collegiate start
  • Two of his three passing touchdowns gave the Pioneers the lead (2nd, 10:45, 14-13 | 3rd, 21-19, 2:59)
  • Posted a 244.5 efficiency rating 
  • Aided the Pioneers to a season-high 42 points

About the ECFC

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.

Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Castleton University (Castleton, VT.), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), Keystone College (La Plume, PA), and Maritime College State University of New York (Throggs Neck, NY).

The mission of the conference is to:

  1. Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors. 
  2. Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
  3. Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
