2022 ECFC Weekly Release — Week #10

KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) has released its weekly award winners for games played through Saturday, November 5.

The following student-athletes have been honored for their standout performances.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brandon Washington (Citronelle, Ala.), Gallaudet, So., SL/QB
  • Scored three rushing touchdowns to lead Gallaudet past Alfred State, 36-22, and clinch the program's second ECFC title (2013, 2022)
  • Compiled a career-high 228 rushing yards on 23 carries (9.9 average, long 42)
  • His scores came in the first (8:12, 7-7), second (6:22, 22-13), and fourth (6:40, 29-13) quarters, respectively
  • Produced the most rushing yards and tied for the league-high in TDs on the week

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sean Pettway (Ellenville, N.Y.), Keystone, Jr., DB
  • Recorded 11 solo tackles and one interception in Keystone's 21-20 win over Maritime (N.Y.)
  • Set career highs for solo tackles and total tackles (both 11 total)
  • His interception sealed the Giants' first-ever home victory with 35-seconds remaining
  • Notched a league-best 11 solo stops, ranked tied for first among all DBs in total tackles, and tied for second in total tackles across the conference

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jonathon Waterman (Sebastian, Fla.), Gallaudet, K/P
  • Converted 4-of-5 extra point attempts for the Bison
  • Punted three times for 112 yards (37.3 average, long 45)
  • His first punt of the game (35-yards) was pinned at the Alfred State 1-yard line and eventually resulted in a safety to give the Bison a 9-7 lead with 23-seconds to play in the first quarter
  • Registered seven kickoffs for 355 yards (50.7 average) and two touchbacks

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Brandon Lane (Valdosta, Ga.), Dean, Fr., DB
  • Collected five tackles (two solo, 0.5 TFL) and picked off one pass in Dean's loss to Anna Maria, 36-22
  • His second career interception led to a go-ahead field for the Bulldogs (3rd, 5:52, 15-14)
  • Notched one third down stop
  • Third straight game producing a turnover for Dean

About the ECFC

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.

Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Castleton University (Castleton, VT.), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), Keystone College (La Plume, PA), and Maritime College State University of New York (Throggs Neck, NY).

The mission of the conference is to:

  1. Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors. 
  2. Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
  3. Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
