Gallaudet senior linebacker Jaris Alleyne selected to Team Stars and Stripes

GRANBURY, TEXAS – Global Football has announced its Team Stars and Stripes squad and Gallaudet University senior linebacker Jaris Alleyne (Waldorf, Md.) is one of 40 Division III players representing 18 different schools heading to Mexico for the sixth annual Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars). Team Stars and Stripes will take on the CONADEIP All-Stars, led by the Tec Monterrey teams, on Saturday, Dec. 20, in Puebla, Mexico.

Team Stars and Stripes will travel to Mexico on Dec. 14 for seven days, with two-a-day practices and an opportunity to explore the local region and experience the culture of the area. The visit also focuses on community service projects.

Alleyne was a standout linebacker for the Bison as he was named to the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) first team for a third straight year. Alleyne led the Bison in tackles (106), solo tackles (59) and assisted tackles (47), including a 24 tackle performance on senior day against SUNY Maritime. Alleyne led the conference in tackles per game (11.9) and was ranked No. 14 in Division III in the same category. The senior linebacker also helped lead a Bison defensive unit that ranks 22nd nationally in total defense. Alleyne is the only representative from the ECFC on the Team Stars and Stripes squad.

The Americans won 29-7 last year in Monterrey and hold a 13-3 all-time record dating back to 1997 when this game was called the Aztec Bowl (1997-2007).
