In the first-ever meeting between the two programs, Salve Regina will travel to take on Norwich in the Northeast Bowl at Sabine Field. The Cadets will be looking to rebound after a 48-28 loss to Castleton this past Saturday to close the regular season. The loss snapped a five-game winning streak for Norwich. Salve Regina, on other hand, comes into Saturday on a four-game hot streak after a 35-23 win over Endicott. After starting the season 1-3, the Seahawks finished the regular season having won five of their last six games.
Norwich, which has appeared in three consecutive ECAC Bowl Games, won at least seven games for the sixth year in a row. The Cadets' defense has given up a paltry 18.5 points per game this season, which ranked second in the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference. As a team, Norwich hauled in 16 interceptions and racked up 54 tackles-for-loss. Also excellent this season, has been kicker Wesley Medeiros (Gilford, N.H.), who has drilled 11-of-14 field goals and all 19 of his point-after attempts.
Offensively, senior running back Al Georgio (West Greenwich, R.I.) has scampered for 884 yards and seven touchdowns, while also catching 13 balls for 157 yards. The Cadets have been at their best in close games this season, winning four games by eight points or less.
