THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – Head Coach Clayton Kendrick-Holmes, who will be entering his 10th season in that position with the Maritime Football program has announced the addition of Brandon Sturman to the coaching staff beginning in 2014.

In his role at Maritime, Sturman will be in charge of calling plays on special teams as the coordinator of the unit, he will also be in charge of coaching the team's strong returning linebacking core. Sturman will also serve as the team's Director of Football Operations. He will also be recruiting several key areas throughout the United States as he will focus his efforts in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Washington, D.C. areas, as well as locally in Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island.

"Brandon brings to us a wealth of NCAA Division III work experience and has already contributed administratively to the football team and athletic department over the summer," commented Kendrick-Holmes. "His specific knowledge of coaching linebackers and coordinating special teams is impressive and his personal connections in the Delaware and Maryland area will strengthen an already fertile recruiting region for us."

Sturman comes to Maritime from Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois, where he recently served in a similar position as special teams coordinator and linebackers coach for the Spartans for six seasons. Prior to his stint in Illinois, Sturman was an assistant coach with his alma mater Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Indiana for the 2006 and 2007 seasons primarily focusing on the linebackers.

He graduated with a degree in sports management in 2006 from Valparaiso, and also received his Master's Degree in sports administration in the spring of 2008.

Maritime is slated to begin its 2014 schedule on Friday, September 5 at 7 p.m. when the Privateers welcome in the William Paterson Pioneers on the newly renovated Reinhart Field.
