Kris Sabourin set the tone early for Norwich, taking the opening play from scrimmage 63-yards for a touchdown, en route to a game-high 229 yards in the Cadets' 40-21 win over Castleton in the annual "Battle for the Bucket" at Spartan Stadium. The Sap Bucket Trophy remains in Northfield for the third-straight season of this budding rivalry, but more importantly, Norwich improved to 3-0 in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) play.
Gallaudet also scored in their first play from scrimage, a 59-yard touchdown reception for Ryne Worsham from WR Nick Elstad. The Bison picked off the Eagles three times and returned a fumble 41 yards for a touchdown as Gallaudet improved to 2-0 in the league with a 35-0 defeat of Husson.
The Conference's leading rusher, Mount Ida's Johrone Bunch, racked up another 211 yards but it was quaterback Scott Drosendahl that led the Mustangs with five touchdowns, three threw the air and two on the ground, as Mount Ida defeated Anna Maria 56-7.
Maritime's Fritz Jean ran back the second half kickoff to spark a 37 point second half enroute to a 47-19 victory over Becker. The Privateers move to 2-0 in league play with their ninth consecutive ECFC victory.
