The Maritime football team earned its first win of the 2011 season Friday night at Western Connecticut State University in shutout fashion, 48-0. Senior fullback Jamie Spanopoulous ran for 97 yards and four touchdowns in the victory.
The visiting Catholic Cardinals scored three touchdowns in less then five minutes to rip victory away from Gallaudet Friday night 45-41. The Bison led 41-24 with nine minutes to play after Gabriel Paulone's 24 yard touchdown run.
Mount Ida quarterback Scott Drosendahl threw two touchdowns and Johrone Bunch ran for 185 yards but it wasnt enough as the Mustangs lost 19-13 to visiting Plymouth State.
Norwich lost to St. Lawrence 29-14.
Reigning ECFC Special Teams Player of the week Kyle Gregg returned a punt this week for a touchdown as Becker lost 35-13 to MIT.
In a game that featured 13 fumbles (seven lost), Anna Maria played Maine Maritime close in the first half tying the score at 13-13 with 4 minutes to go in the second quarter. The AMCATS were outpaced in the second half falling 42-13.
Husson and Castleton were on a bye this week.
