Spanopoulos scored four rushing touchdowns for the Privateers in
the 48-0 road victory at Western Connecticut on Friday night. He
scored three times in the first half, twice in the first quarter on
9-yard and 11-yard runs and once in the second quarter on a 1-yard.
In the third , he put six on the board after a 6-yard run to end
his scoring on the day. He finished the night with 97 rushing
yards.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Troy Barnes, Anna
Maria
(Jr, LB - Hamden, CT)
Barnes picked up a fumbled Maine Maritime ball on the Anna Maria
1-yard line and rumbled for team record, 99 yard touchdown return,
at the time making it a 13-7 game. Barnes also had 4 unassisted
tackles with a total of 7 for the game.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madison Leary,
Maritime (N.Y.)
(Sr, K/P - Tavares, Fla./Tavares)
Leary notched 12 points in the Privateers' 48-0 win over Western
Connecticut on Friday night as he was a perfect 6-for-6 in PAT
kicks and converted two long field goals from 44 yards and 47 yards
out, both in the first half.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Quentin Williams,
Gallaudet
(Fr, QB - Chesapeake, Va.)
Williams had a solid game in his second collegiate game with
Gallaudet University. The rookie amassed 207 all-purpose yards and
scored two touchdowns as the Bison lost a tough 45-41 game at home
against Catholic University of America. Williams fielded five
kick-offs and returned them for 181 yards with a long of 85 which
he returned for a touchdown in the second half. He ran the ball
four times for 26 yards and had an 8-yard run to start the scoring
for the Bison last Friday. GU led 28-0 and 41-24 at different
points in the game before the Cardinals rallied.
