OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Scott Drosendahl,
Mount Ida
(Jr, QB - East Aurora, NY)
Mount Ida College football junior quarterback Scott Drosendahl
threw for 141 yards and three touchdowns going 10-13 and rushed for
two more touchdowns in a 56-7 Eastern Collegiate Football
Conference (ECFC) victory over hosting Anna Maria College Saturday
afternoon in Paxton, Massachusetts.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
John Van Wey,
Gallaudet
(Sr, DL - Alexandria, Va.)
Van Wey was consistently in the Husson backfield on Saturday as he
terrorized the Eagles and their quarterbacks as he led Gallaudet
with two sacks for a loss of 26 yards, had four quarterback
hurries, led the team with 32 yards lost on 3.5 tackles and even
scored a touchdown. Van Wey scooped up a fumble, off a Bison sack,
and ran 41 yards for the touchdown to start the fourth quarter and
put the game out of reach as the Bison won 35-0. The Bison defense
held Husson to negative 47 yards rushing in the game.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Madison Leary,
Maritime (N.Y.)
(Sr, K/P - Tavares, Fla./Tavares)
Leary had a great day kicking for the Privateers, as he made two
field goals from 46-yards and 39-yards in the 47-19 win over Becker
on Saturday. He also made 5-of-6 extra points for Maritime. On
three punts, he amassed 135 yards (45 yards per punt) and landed
one inside the opponents 20-yard line and one went for a touchback.
Leary also had a perfectly placed sky-kickoff in the fourth quarter
that stayed in the air long enough for the Privateers to get under
it and maintain possession. He averaged 53.4 yards on eight
kickoffs on the day.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jaris Alleyne,
Gallaudet
(Fr, LB - Waldorf, Md.)
Alleyne stopped Husson's second longest drive of the day with an
interception just outside the red zone as he came down with the
pass at the Gallaudet 22-yard line and raced eight yards to stop a
7-play, 40-yard drive late in the third quarter. The freshman
linebacker also made four tackles and one tackle for a loss of a
yard in the win as the GU defense held Husson to negative 47 yards
rushing.
