MINNEAPOLIS – Sophomore defensive end Matt Harris (Lynchburg, Va.) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, as announced by the national website, honoring him as one of the nation's top performers in NCAA Division III football last week. This is the second time in program history a player has been selected to this elite weekly team.

Harris set a program record and was half a sack short of the Division III mark with his seven-sack day against Becker College. He helped the Bison to a 44-20 win before a record crowd of 3,854 at Hotchkiss Field in the Homecoming game.

With this single game, Harris has jumped from unranked (top 100 are ranked) all the way to No. 2 on the NCAA Division III sacks leaders list. The Bison as a team jumped from No. 44 up to eighth. Senior John Van Wey (Alexandria, Va.) added 1.5 sacks and sophomore Adham Talaat (Springfield, Va.) had half a sack in the win against the Hawks.

This is Harris' second honor this week as he was named Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. Harris joins junior wide receiver Ryne Worsham (Chicago, Ill.) as the only two Bison to be selected to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Worsham was named to the inaugural team of the 2011 season for his 155-yard, two-touchdown game against Otterbein University. Worsham's selection was the first-ever for the Gallaudet football program.

Area school Johns Hopkins University was also represented on the team this week, with their entire offensive line making the cut for their solid performance in an 83-21 rout of Gettysburg College. JHU set school records for total yards (731), passing yards (545), total plays (100), touchdown passes (seven) and first downs (39). The 83 points are the second-highest single-game total in school history.
