MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, September 22nd.  Anna Maria’s Alex Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) took home Offensive Player of the Week while Alfred State’s Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua, N.Y.) earned Special Teams Player of the Week. Castleton University teammates Ethan Palazzetti (South Kingstown, R.I.) and Devin Wollner (Keyport, N.J.) received Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors, respectively.

Offensive Player of the Week

Alex Cohen – Anna Maria College
(Sophomore, QB – Plymouth, Mass.)

Cohen completed 21 passes for 311 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday against Nichols. The sophomore QB was able to connect for a long of 83 yards and a score, finishing with an efficiency rating of 132.6.

Defensive Player of the Week

Ethan Palazzetti – Castleton University
(Sophomore, DB - South Kingstown, R.I.)

Palazzetti had a big day Saturday at UNE, racking up nine tackles from the defensive backfield in addition to an interception and a forced fumble. The sophomore was Castleton's leading tackler, finishing with five solo tackles and four assists. His forced fumble was recovered by the Spartans and led to a Castleton touchdown that made the score 31-21.

Rookie of the Week

Devin Wollner - Castleton University
(Freshman, RB - Keyport, N.J.)

Wollner had a big week on the road for Castleton, breaking out for 141 yards on 20 carries with a touchdown. He averaged 7.0 yards per carry with a 31-yard run, and his touchdown in the first quarter made it a 10-7 game as Castleton got itself on the board against UNE.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Michael Zimmerman - Alfred State
(Senior, SS - Canandaigua, N.Y.)

Zimmerman was huge in the field possession game. He punted five times for 235 total yards. Four of his punts were inside the 20 as he averaged 47 yards per punt. His long for the day was 55 yards. He was also 3 for 4 on extra points and chipped in two tackles (one solo) defensively.
