GUESS WHO'S BACK?
A plethora of returning all-conference honorees will dot the Dean College lineup when the 2019 season kicks off on Friday, September 6. Chief among those heralded returners include senior captains Gene Baisden (Tampa, Fla.) and Shannon Moxey (Austell, Ga.) as well as junior Errol Breaux (Marietta, Ga.).
HOME COOKING
Dean will play six of their games this season at home, including the opener against Nichols College under the lights at Franklin High's Pisani Field. Other home dates include visits from Salve Regina (September 21), Kean University (September 28), Maritime (October 12), Alfred State (November 2) and Castleton University (November 9).
HE'S ELECTRIC
Reigning ECFC Rookie of the Year, Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.) returns under center for the Bulldogs following a standout inaugural campaign that saw him throw for nearly 2,000 yards in just nine games (1,982), to go along with 17 touchdowns. Watts' showed immediate signs of improvement even last season when he threw just one interception in his final five games or last 132 pass attempts.
TAMPA TOUGH
Baisden has been a fixture on the Dean defensive side of the ball for what will be his fourth season. He has started 20 straight games for the Bulldogs and enters his senior season with nearly 100 tackles in the last two seasons alone. He has a nose for the ball - evident by his three interceptions and two fumble recoveries a season ago.
SECRET WEAPON
After missing most of last season with an injury, Julian Burris (Kennesaw, Ga.) returns to the Dean lineup in 2019. Burris had an electric coming out party in the season opener against Curry, scoring three touchdowns – on a 76-yard reception, another on a 21-yard reception and the other on a 92-yard kickoff return.
ERROL'S EMERGENCE
A second-team all-conference selection a season ago, Breaux burst onto the scene and finished with 920 yards receiving and 12 total touchdowns. He had a touchdown catch in eight of ten contests, including four games with two or more. In addition, Breaux recorded five games with 100 yards receiving or more, including a school-record 229 yards against Husson.
REID AND REACT
There may be no more versatile player in the league than sophomore Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.). The all-purpose dynamo scored a touchdown rushing and receiving, threw a 99-yard touchdown pass and even had an interception in a win over Becker.
STRONG FINISH
Dean will open up the 2019 season riding the conference's longest winning streak at three games. After scoring a school-record 53 points in a win over Gallaudet, the Bulldogs went on to knock off Castleton and Anna Maria at home to finish the 2018 campaign at 5-5 and 4-2 in league play.
ONE OF THE BEST AROUND
Senior standout Shannon Moxey was named first-team all-conference and an all-New England all-star after a monster junior season that saw him lead the league in interceptions (6) and forced fumbles (3).
SHOCK TO THE SYSTEM
The Bulldogs have an abundance of playmakers all over the field and the explosive plays they make seem commonplace. In 2018, Dean had 11 scoring plays of 60 yards or more.
NO FLY ZONE
The Cardinal and White led the ECFC and were fifth in NCAA Division III in total interceptions with 22. Not to mention, the Bulldogs finished the season ranked second in the league in passing yards allowed per game (157.1).
