KILLINGWORTH, Conn. – Vermont State University (VTSU) Castleton senior return specialist Caezar Williams (Round Rock, Texas) has been named to the 2023 D3football.com Preseason All-America Second Team, as announced by the organization.
Williams is the second Spartan in program history to earn national preseason recognition.
He was also just one of four New England student-athletes represented on the 2023 D3football.com Preseason All-America squad among the 75 student-athletes honored across the country.
Last season, Williams averaged 17.1 yards per punt return to lead the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) and rank fifth nationwide.
The Round Rock, Texas product took two punts to the end zone, finishing the season as one of seven Division III student-athletes with multiple punt return touchdowns.
At slot receiver, Williams caught 21 passes for 277 yards and carried the ball 13 times for 58 yards, totaling three touchdowns from scrimmage.
For his efforts, Williams earned First Team All-ECFC, New England Football Writers First Team All-New England, and D3football.com All-Region 1 honors following his illustrious 2022 campaign.
About the ECFC
The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.
Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), and Vermont State Castleton (Castleton, VT.)
The mission of the conference is to:
- Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors.
- Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
- Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
