Two OT victories mark week 5 in the ECFC

Gallaudet and Becker each earned their first ECFC wins of the season with overtime wins on the road while Maritime and Norwich ran to victories over Castleton and Mount Ida.

An improbable comeback by Gallaudet ended in the third overtime Saturday when junior defensive back Tony Tatum came down with his second interception of the season to give the Bison a thrilling 48-40 victory on the road against Anna Maria. Down 34-13 in the fourth quarter, the Bison scored three touchdowns the last with 42 seconds remaining to force overtime.

Becker running back Kyle Gregg scored from three yards out in the first overtime as the Hawks defeated Husson. Following a 14-14 first half, Becker and Husson played a scoreless second half forcing overtime. Husson missed a field goal on their first series in overtime. Becker first year runningback Tyler Iafelice had 21 carrires for 161 yards and two first half touchdowns.

Maritime used a strong ground game, scoring eight rushing touchdowns on 431 yards to defeat visiting Castleton, 56-14 in the Privateers' ECFC-opener. Sophomore Thomas Davis led the Privateers with three TDs on just 12 yards rushing while the Maritime defense held the high-powered Castleton passing attack to just 129 yards.

The Norwich University football team used two late interceptions, including one returned 86 yards for a score by senior DB Sean Stone, to seal a 31-17, victory over conference-rival Mount Ida. The Cadet offense was led by freshman RB Derrick Pitts  who rushed for 176 yards.
