DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Joseph Gumberwicz, Norwich
University
(So., LB - Oxford, Conn.)
Gumberwicz had two interceptions, one fumble recovery and 1.5
quarterback sacks to help Norwich defeat Mount Ida 28-6 yesterday.
The sophomore's fumble recovery and second interception directly
set up Norwich touchdown drives deep in Mount Ida territory.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Phillip Hayes, Gallaudet
University
(Sophomore, RB - Baton Rouge, La./Louisiana School for the
Deaf)
Hayes ran for a career-high 128 yards on the ground and scored
three touchdowns for Gallaudet University as the Bison won 49-18
over Castleton State. Hayes averaged 12.8 per carry with a long run
of 37 yards.
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Justin Wilson, Gallaudet
University
(Senior, K/P - Phoenix, Ariz./Del Campo)
Wilson converted a career-high 7-for-7 on point after attempts in
a 49-18 victory for Gallaudet University over Castleton State.
Wilson had a busy day as he made six punts for 186 yards (average
of 31 yards) with a long of 55 yards and one punt inside the 20.
The senior kicker also made seven kick-offs for 366 yards (52.3
yards per kickoff) and one touchback.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Danny Triplett, Norwich University
(Fr., RB - Haverhill, Mass.)
Triplett rushed for a career-high 116 yards and a touchdown in
Norwich's 28-6 win over Mount Ida on Saturday. It was his first
career 100-yard game and first career touchdown.
