2023 ECFC Weekly Release — Week #10

KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) has released its weekly award winners for games played through Saturday, November 4.

The following student-athletes have been honored for their standout performances.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jazir Francois (Spring Valley, N.Y.), Alfred State, So., WR
  • Hauled in four catches for 144 yards (36 avg)
  • Three of his four receptions resulted in TDs, including a 78-yarder
  • His three TDs bring him to a league-leading 9 TDs on the season
  • He now ranks third in the league in yards per game (78.7)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zefan Nathanson (Manor, Texas), Gallaudet, So., OLB
  • Led the Bison with 10 tackles, including eight solo tackles
  • Had two tackles for a loss of eight yards
  • Blocked a punt in the second quarter, leading to an eventual Bison TD

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dylan Knight (Staten Island, N.Y.), Alfred State, So., LB
  • Forced a fumble during a kickoff and returned it 25 yards for a TD
  • Picked up an additional tackle during a kickoff later in the game
  • Finished the game with six points, two tackles, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and a pass breakup

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Noah Currier (Oakfield, N.Y.), Alfred State, Fy., RB
  • Had five carries for 63 yards (12.6 avg), including a 14-yard TD
  • Also pulled in a 14-yard reception and a 33-yard kick return
  • Finished the game with 110 all-purpose yards
  • Ranks fifth in conference play in rushing yards per game (66.3 avg)

About the ECFC

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.

Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), and Vermont State Castleton (Castleton, VT.)

The mission of the conference is to:

  1. Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors. 
  2. Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
  3. Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
