KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) has released its weekly award winners for games played through Saturday, September 23.
The following student-athletes have been honored for their standout performances.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Russell (West Springfield, Mass.), Anna Maria, Jr., QB
- Russell completed 30 of his 40 passes for 539 yards and six touchdowns
- All three categories were season-highs
- Career-high six touchdown passes
- Career-high completion percentage (75.0%, min. 40 attempts)
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jeremiah Nixon (Staten Island, N.Y.), Alfred State, Sr., LB
- Posted 11 tackles (6 solo) in a 48-7 victory over Hilbert
- Registered his first career interception
- Tied his season-high in tackles
- Produced a season-high six solo tackles
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Kent (Marlton, N.J.), Anna Maria, Sr., K
- Notched seven points (1 FG, 4 XP)
- Tallied 341 yards on eight kickoffs (42.6 average)
- His field goal went for 24 yards, giving Anna Maria a 9-6 lead at the time in the first quarter
- Also had one punt for 36 yards
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Nicholas Cuomo (Oxford, N.Y.), Alfred State, Fy., RB
- Made his five rushing attempts count in the Pioneers' 48-7 win over Hilbert
- Compiled 51 rushing yards
- Punched home a 31-yard touchdown (first career)
- Average 10.2 yards per carry

About the ECFC
The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.
Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), and Vermont State Castleton (Castleton, VT.)
The mission of the conference is to:
- Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors.
- Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
- Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
