2023 ECFC Weekly Release — Week #8

KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) has released its weekly award winners for games played through Saturday, October 21.

The following student-athletes have been honored for their standout performances.


CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dre'Vaughn Mackall (Prince Frederick, Md.), Gallaudet, Jr., SB
Deandre Wallace (Waterbury, Conn.), Anna Maria, WR

MACKALL

  • Scored three touchdowns on 26 carries in Gallaudet's 38-24 win over Alfred State
  • Compiled 184 yards on the ground (7.1 average)
  • Aided the Bison in rushing for over 400 yards for the first time since 2019
  • His three TDs and 184 rushing yards are both career-highs

WALLACE

  • Posted six catches for 181 yards and two touchdowns to help Anna Maria defeat Dean, 52-20
  • Second-most receiving yards in the ECFC this season; his 205 yards versus Husson on 9/23 rank first
  • Averaged 30.2 yards per catch
  • Has caught six or more passes in five straight games (leads ECFC receivers in catches, yards, TDs)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Des Dias (Rochester, Mass.), Dean, Sr., LB

  • Recorded a season-high 13 tackles (six solo, seven assisted) against Anna Maria
  • His 13 tackles ranked tied for first among all ECFC student-athletes on the week
  • Notched a season-high six solo stops
  • Also tallied a season-best seven assisted tackles

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Andrew Liverman (Union City, N.J.), Dean, So., DB

  • Returned a 78-yard kickoff for a touchdown versus the AMCATS
  • Finished the contest with a career-high 90 kickoff return yards and his first-ever return TD
  • Defensively, he racked up five tackles (four solo)
  • Had one pass breakup

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Darren Watson (North Andover, Mass.), Anna Maria, Fr., DB

  • Filled the stat sheet with four solo stops, one forced fumble, an interception, and a pass breakup
  • His forced fumble, interception, and pass breakup were career firsts
  • Career-high four solo tackles
  • His four total tackles are also a career-high

About the ECFC

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.

Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), and Vermont State Castleton (Castleton, VT.)

The mission of the conference is to:

  1. Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors. 
  2. Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
  3. Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
