2023 ECFC Weekly Release — Week #7

KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) has released its weekly award winners for the games played through Saturday, October 14.

The following student-athletes have been honored for their standout performances.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dre'Vaughn Mackall (Prince Frederick, Md.), Gallaudet, Jr., FB
  • Scored game-tying 14-yard rushing touchdown to help Gallaudet complete a 20-point comeback win over Vermont State Castleton
  • Finished the contest with a game-high 112 yards on 15 rushes (7.5 average, long 33) and one score
  • Third straight 100-yard rushing game of the season
  • Fewest amount of carries this year to eclipse 100 yards rushing

CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Danny Browning (Eden, N.Y.), Alfred State, Sr., DB
Zefan Nathanson (Manor, Texas), Gallaudet, So., DB


BROWNING

  • Returned a blocked punt (22 yards) for the game's opening score in Alfred State's 46-20 victory against Anna Maria
  • Had four tackles (three solo)
  • Picked off a pass to end the first half and keep Alfred State in the lead, 20-7, at the time
  • Third interception of the season, ranks second in the league

NATHANSON

  • His blocked punt set up Mackall's game-tying TD
  • Compiled four tackles (2 solo), one sack, and two tackles for a loss
  • First career sack
  • Second career block

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Andrae' Green (Washington, D.C.), Gallaudet, So., DB
  • Green sparked Gallaudet's come-from-behind victory with a 91-yard kickoff return TD at the 10:53 mark of the fourth quarter
  • First career kickoff return score
  • Longest kickoff return in Green's career
  • Also had a tackle and a pass breakup

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Noah Currier (Oakfield, N.Y.), Alfred State, Fy., RB
  • Scored two rushing touchdowns on 11 carries for 124 yards
  • Set career-highs for rushing attempts, yards, and touchdowns
  • His rushing touchdowns went for 34 yards and 53 yards (career-long)
  • Average 11.3 yards per carry

About the ECFC

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.

Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), and Vermont State Castleton (Castleton, VT.)

The mission of the conference is to:

  1. Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors. 
  2. Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
  3. Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
