2023 ECFC Weekly Release — Week #9

KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) has released its weekly award winners for games played through Saturday, October 28.

The following student-athletes have been honored for their standout performances.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jamal Cariglia (South Portland, Maine), Anna Maria, So., RB
  • Rushed for a career-high 154 yards (9 attempts, 17.1 average) and one touchdown in the AMCATS' 49-14 victory against previously conference-undefeated Gallaudet
  • Ripped off a career-long 61-yard rushing TD to close out the scoring in the contest
  • Six of his nine rushing attempts resulted in first downs
  • His 154 rushing yards are tied for fifth in the ECFC this season

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lamar Wilkes (Philadelphia, Pa.), Anna Maria, Sr., DB
  • Set a school record for interceptions with three against the Bison
  • Made his second career house call with a 39-yard pick-six to give Anna Maria a 42-7 lead with 18-seconds to play in the third quarter
  • Finished the game with six tackles (two solo) and one pass breakup
  • Ranks first in the ECFC with six interceptions this season

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryan Kent (Marlton, N.J.), Anna Maria, Sr., K
  • Compiled a season-high seven extra points for the AMCATS
  • His lone punt of the day (38-yarder) was pinned at Gallaudet's one-yard line just before the end of the first half (28-7 lead)
  • Notched 410 yards on eight kickoffs (51.3 average, 1 touchback)
  • Has scored five or more points in seven games this year

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Da'Qwon Foster (Providence, R.I.), Dean, Fy., WR
  • Hauled in three catches for 44 yards (14.7 average) and one touchdown
  • His 18-yard TD grab at 3:10 of the fourth quarter proved to be the difference in Dean's 19-18 win over Vermont State Castleton
  • The score was the first of his career
  • He also set career-highs for catches and receiving yards

About the ECFC

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.

Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Dean College (Franklin, MA), Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.), and Vermont State Castleton (Castleton, VT.)

The mission of the conference is to:

  1. Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors. 
  2. Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
  3. Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
