MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, September 19th. Anna Maria’s Alex Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) took home Offensive Player of the Week honors. Castleton’s Chris Rice (Bethel, Conn.) earned Defensive Player of the Week, while Gallaudet teammates Brandon Washington (Citronelle, Ala.) and Jack Gray (Atherton, Calif.) were named Rookie of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively.

Offensive Player of the Week

Alex Cohen - Anna Maria College
(Senior, QB – Plymouth, Mass.)

Cohen threw for a career-high 355 yards on 25 of 36 passing with one touchdown completion. He punched in two more touchdowns on the ground, thus scoring or throwing for all three of Anna Maria's scores on the day. The senior has the AMCATS at 1-1 for the first time since 2013.

Defensive Player of the Week

Chris Rice – Castleton University
(Senior, DL - Bethel, Conn.)

Rice had a monster game for Castleton against Norwich, leading the team with 13 total tackles – four of which went for a loss. Rice has been in the opponent’s backfield often all season, ranking first in the nation for tackles for a loss with 10.5 through three games. The senior defensive lineman also recorded a fumble recovery that helped lead to Castleton’s only touchdown of the game.

Rookie of the Week

Brandon Washington – Gallaudet University
(Freshman, WR - Citronelle, Ala.)

Washington had quite the debut for Gallaudet as he made three receptions for 81 yards and two touchdowns as Gallaudet won its season opener against Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, 21-14 on Saturday. Washington also fielded two kickoffs and returned the ball 52 yards along with one punt return for 20 yards. The freshman was responsible for 12 of GU's 21 points in the win.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Jack Gray – Gallaudet University
(Junior, DB/K - Atherton, Calif.)

Gray was a perfect 3-for-3 on extra-point attempts and handled Gallaudet's kickoff duties. He had four kickoffs travel 202 yards (50.5 average). On defense, he made two key interceptions to help the Bison defeat Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology, 21-14, in the season opener for the Bison.
