Four from ECFC Named to NEFW Team

Bridgewater, Mass. – Twenty-nine conference all-stars representing 19 schools from the six New England Division II and III football playing conferences have been selected to the 2021 New England Football Writers Association All-New England team. The team, selected by a committee of representatives from the six conferences, honors the best Division II and III players by position in New England from the 2021 season.

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) had four players recognized in Anna Maria's Armstrong Antoine (Stratford, Conn.) at defensive back, Castleton University's Chris Rice (Bethel, Conn.) as a defensive lineman, Castleton's Tucker Gaudette (Georgia, Vt.) as an offensive lineman and Dean College's Errol Breaux (Baton Rouge, La.) at wide receiver.

The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 9, at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center. Reservations must be made no later than Friday, December 3, and may be made at https://newenglandfootballwriters.com/captains-%26-awards-banquet. Antoine earned his way onto the NEFW All Star Team as a DB after being a force in the secondary for the ECFC-champion AMCATS. The senior posted 48 solo tackles on the year. He also recorded a forced fumble, two tackles for loss and had one interception that he returned for a touchdown. Antoine also posted an impressive 10 pass breakups on the season.

Rice earned the distinction of an all-NEFW selection for the second straight season after earning the distinction in 2019. The ECFC Defensive Player of the Year closed out his year at Castleton with some incredible numbers. Rice led the conference with 23 tackles for loss, his 2.3 TFL per game ranked second nationally in all of Division III. He also tormented opponents' quarterbacks, racking up a league-high 11.5 sacks which also ranked 13th nationally. The senior defensive lineman also added 65 total tackles (30 solo), two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, three pass breakups and one block to his incredible stat line for his senior campaign.

Gaudette earned all NEFW recognition after being honored as the ECFC Offensive Lineman of the Year. Gaudette anchored a line that rushed for 1,482 yards on the season, good for 3rd-best in the ECFC. The Spartans also protected their quarterbacks, surrendering only 18 sacks on the season over nine games.

Breaux was honored as an all-NEFW selection after a jaw dropping senior season where he led the ECFC in nearly every receiving category. His statistics measured up nationally as well as his 135.0 receiving yards per game ranked tops in all of NCAA Division III while his 8.3 receptions per game checked in at fourth nationally. His 1,215 receiving yards ranked fifth in the country. He led the ECFC with 75 catches and his eight touchdowns were second-most among league receivers.
