MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, November 14th. Castleton’s Lucas Morse (White Hall, N.Y.) earned Offensive Player of the Week while Gallaudet’s Jacob Hartman (Petersburg, W. Va.) took home Defensive Player of the Week. Alfred State’s Joel Smith (Livonia, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week honors and Darin Cooper (Fulton, N.J.) was named Special Teams Player of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week

Lucas Morse – Castleton University
(Senior, RB – White Hall, N.Y.)

Morse had a monster week for Castleton, going for 247 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-30 win over Gallaudet. Morse tallied the second most yards in a single game in Castleton history, and scored the game-tying touchdown, which led to the go-ahead extra point. The senior, playing in his final game, averaged 10.7 yards per carry and broke off five runs of 20+ yards, including a 54-yarder in the final quarter.

Defensive Player of the Week

Jacob Hartman – Gallaudet University
(Freshman, LB – Petersburg, W. Va.)

A week after setting a career-high mark for tackles, freshman linebacker Jacob Hartman came out and broke that mark with a 12-tackle performance at Castleton University on Saturday. Of Hartman’s 12 tackles, tops in the game from either team, eight of the tackles were solo. Hartman recorded his fifth sack of the season as he dropped Castleton quarterback Evan Smith for a six-yard loss. Hartman also improved his career best with three tackles for a loss of 14 yards. Hartman finished the season with a team best 70 tackles (40 solo) in eight games played.

Rookie of the Week

Joel Smith – Alfred State
(Freshman, LB – Livonia, N.Y.)

Smith recorded 2.5 sacks for a loss of 12 yards in the Pioneers win over Dean on Saturday. He finished with four tackles and three tackles for a loss.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Darrin Cooper – Anna Maria College
(Gr., DB – Fulton, N.Y.)

Cooper made one of the most explosive plays of the game in the AMCATS' 31-7 championship clinching win over SUNY Maritime on Saturday. He recovered a blocked field goal attempt and returned it 83 yards for a touchdown with 10:28 to go in the third to put the AMCATS ahead 17-7 in a massive 10-point swing.
