MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, October 7th.  Husson University teammates Tyrik Smith (Plantation, Fla.) and Tyreek Bromley (Island Park, N.Y.) were named Defensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively. Maritime’s Brandonn Drumgole (Mount Sinai, N.Y.) earned Offensive Player of the Week, while Anna Maria’s Alex Cohen (Plymouth, Mass.) took home Rookie of the Week honors.

Offensive Player of the Week

Brandonn Drumgole – Maritime (N.Y.)
(Senior, WR – Mount Sinai, N.Y.)

Drumgole was electric for the Privateers in their 55-14 win over Alfred State. The Mount Sinai, N.Y. native accounted for four touchdowns on the day, in three different ways. He threw for a 40-yard passing touchdown, had a 3-yard rushing touchdown, and had receiving touchdowns of 16 and 21 yards. In addition to the four total touchdowns, Drumgole tallied 79 receiving yards. He now has eight receiving touchdowns on the season.

Defensive Player of the Week

Tarik Smith - Husson University
(Senior, DL - Plantation, Fla.)


Smith had six tackles (four solo, two assisted) against Dean as he helped Husson to its 18th consecutive conference victory on Friday night. Three of his tackles went for a loss including two sacks. He also forced two big fumbles in the contest and was a member of an Eagle defensive that held Dean to 69 yards of rushing, while forcing four turnovers and sacking the quarterback five times on the evening.

Rookie of the Week

Alex Cohen – Anna Maria College
(Freshman, QB – Plymouth, Mass.)

Cohen was able to lead the AMCATS to a victory after being down 17 points going into the second quarter. Alex was involved in all four of the teams’ touchdowns as he threw for three and ran for another. He finished the contest with a 67% completion percentage going 26-39 for 314 yards through the air and rushing for 32 yards.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Tyreek Bromley - Husson University
(Freshman, LB – Island Park, N.Y.)
  

Bromley came around the outside of the line and blocked a Dean punt. The ball stayed inbounds and Bromley pounced on the rolling ball for his first career special teams score and team's second in as many games. He also added two fumble recoveries in the 48-16 win over Dean.
