Four from ECFC Honored by New England Football Writers

Cambridge, MASS. - The New England Football Writers released their annual All-New England team and four student-athletes from the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) were honored. In total, thirty-one players representing 22 different teams have been named to the 2018 New England Football Writers College Division All-New England Team.

ECFC Champions, Husson University, nothced three selections to the team in wide receiver Kyle Gaudet (Gilford, N.H.), linebacker Elvin Suazo (Brookylyn, N.Y.) and offensive lineman Brad Weston (Gardiner, Maine). Dean College's Shannon Moxey (Marietta, Ga.) was also named to the team to total four representatives from the ECFC.  

Gaudet landed on the All-New England Team after ranking in the top three in nearly every receiving statistical category in the ECFC this season. A First Team All-Conference selection he led the conference in receptions (66) and receiving yards (1,031) while ranking second in touchdowns (13) and yard per game (93.7). 

ECFC Defensive Player of the Year, Suazo, joins a strong All-New England linebacker core. The senior did a little bit of everything for the Eagles this season recording 91 total tackles (second-most in league), while also logging eight sacks and 14 tackles for loss. He also added a fumble recovery and interception on the year. 

Weston was recognized as ECFC Offensive Lineman of the Year after helping lead the Eagles to a prolific offensive campaign. Weston anchored a line that led the ECFC in rushing yards (2,352) and touchdowns (23). The line was also key in pass protection, surrendering only four sacks in league games as their passing game averaged 242.7 yards per game on the season.   

Moxey landed on the All-New England team  as a defensive back after posting a league-best six interceptions and being named to the ECFC First Team All-Conference. The junior also recorded six pass break-ups, three forced fumbles, a sack and six and a half tackles for loss for the Bulldogs. He also added 57 tackles. 

The team will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 6, at Rosaria Restaurant and Function Facility in Saugus, Mass.
