MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, November 11th. Maritime’s Thomas Wright (Wantagh, N.Y.) took home Offensive Player of the Week honors. Alfred State’s John Lauretti (Seaford, N.Y) earned Defensive Player of the Week, while Dean College’s DeAndre Grange (Teaneck, N.J.) was honored as the Rookie of the Week.
Offensive Player of the Week
Thomas Wright – Maritime (N.Y.)
(Senior, QB – Pembroke, Mass.)
Wright returned to the field for the first time in two games for Maritime and led an aerial assault against Gallaudet on Saturday afternoon. The senior quarterback finished 27-46 for 363 yards and four touchdowns in the big 34-7 win.
Defensive Player of the Week
John Lauretti - Alfred State
(Senior, DL - Seaford, N.Y.)
Lauretti had 16 total tackles in his final game wearing the blue & gold. He was also part of five sacks on the day and finished with 3.5 sacks for a loss of 20 yards. He finished the day with four tackles for a loss of 22 yards.
Rookie of the Week
DeAndre Grange - Dean College
(Freshman, RB – Teaneck, N.J.)
Grange provided all the offense Dean would need in Saturday's 19-13 win over Anna Maria. Playing against a stiff wind, he toted the ball a career-high 30 times for 115 yards and found the endzone three times - including the game-winning ten-yard gallop with less than three minutes to play.
