THROGGS NECK, N.Y. – Maritime senior placekicker Diogo Dietrich (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/DePaul Catholic (N.J.)) was announced to the D3football.com preseason All-American First team as announced by the organization on Friday afternoon.

Dietrich comes off of his record-breaking junior campaign, in which he concluded the season as a D3football.com Third Team All-American. In addition to his All-American performance as a junior, he was also named to the D3football.com All-Region Second team, and will also enter the 2015 season as the two-time defending Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) Special Teams Player of the Year.

Last year, the right-footed kicker led the team with 55 points on the season, as he converted 13 field goals and 16 extra points. He ranked eighth in all of NCAA DIII with 1.44 field goals per game and also 14th in Division III with an 81% success rate on field goals this season. Four of his 14 field goals were greater than 40 yards, including his program-record 49-yard field goal set earlier this season. He was also named ECFC Special Teams Player of the Week on four separate occasions.

Dietrich is the only member of the ECFC to be selected as a D3football.com All-American; he is joined by several other members from State University of New York schools as Dylan Peebles of Cortland was named a first team return specialist. Fahraad Johnson of Morrisville was named to the second team offensive tackle, while Marquis Artis of Buffalo State was picked as a second team linebacker.

Defending NCAA Division III Champion Wisconsin-Whitewater had three first team preseason All-Americans, while runner-up Mount Union led the way with six first team preseason All-American selections.

D3football.com preseason All-Americans are selected by D3football.com staff, using previous years' nominations and All-Region voting results as a guide.

Maritime will begin its 2015 season on Saturday, September 5 when the team plays host to the Maine Maritime Mariners for a 12 p.m. kickoff on Reinhart Field.
