2024 ECFC Weekly Release — Week #5

KILLINGWORTH, Conn. — The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) has released its weekly award winners for games played through Sunday, October 5.

The following student-athletes have been honored for their standout performances.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Dre'Vaughn Mackall (Prince Frederick, Md.), Gallaudet, Sr., SB
  • Ran for a career-high 238 yards and found the end zone three times in a 42-28 win over Nichols 
  • Averaged 8.5 yards per rush (28 carries, 61 long)
  • Scored touchdowns of 13 yards (21-7 lead), 61 yards (28-7), and three yards (42-28)

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Silas Egenlauf (Spencerport, N.Y.), Alfred State, Sr., LB
  • Tallied eight tackles and a pick-6 in Alfred State's 21-7 victory
  • His house call gave the Pioneers an early 7-0 lead (2Q — 13:53)
  • Two of his tackles went for a loss (8 yards)

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Richard Brice II (Avon, N.Y.), Alfred State, So., QB/P
  • Averaged 42.5 yards per punt on four attempts
  • Three of his punts landed inside the 20 (other fair caught)
  • Also completed two passes for nine yards

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Jose Vargas (Fonda, N.Y.), Alfred State, Fr., RB
  • Blocked his first career punt at the opponent's 22-yard line (recovered at the 8)
  • The Pioneers scored on the first play of their ensuing drive
  • Added one punt return for 14 yards

About the ECFC

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference was formed in the spring of 2009 as an NCAA Division III single-sport football conference. The conference, named after the geographic location of the institutions began competition in the fall of 2009.

Current members are Alfred State College (Alfred, NY), Anna Maria College (Worcester, MA), Dean College (Franklin, MA), and Gallaudet University (Washington, D.C.).

  1. Promote intercollegiate varsity football as an integral part of the educational experience of all competitors. 
  2. Establish a conference schedule and determine a conference championship that will represent the conference as the automatic qualifier to the NCAA national tournament.
  3. Adopt sportsmanship, fair play, moral integrity, and competitive excellence as cornerstones of the conference.
