ECFC Weekly Honors for November 7, 2011

Co- OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Johrone Bunch, Mount Ida
(Sr, RB - Meriden, CT)
Senior running back Johrone Bunch recorded two rushing scores tallying 160 total yards adding a touchdown throw on a halfback pass in the third quarter leading Mount Ida to a 28-12 ECFC victory over visiting Gallaudet.

 

 Santino Simone, Anna Maria
(Jr, QB - Worcester, Mass)
AMCAT quarterback Simone accounted for 417 yards and four touchdowns in a 35-33 victory over Becker College on Saturday afternoon. Simone threw for 264 yards (19 for 37) and a touchdown. The touchdown was a 31-yard strike to tie the game at 7-7. Santino ran for 153 yards and three touchdowns. He had touchdown runs of 17 yards, 1 yard and 2 yards as the AMCATS earned their first win in program history.

 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Matt Simonelli, Norwich
(Jr., DL - Scituate, Rhode Island)
Simonelli registered game-high 14 tackles, of which 13 were solo tackles, in Norwich's ECFC title clinching 16-9 win at SUNY-Maritime. The junior helped lead a defense that limited the Privateer offense to less than 250 yards.

 

 

 

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Long Ding, Norwich
(Sr, K - Qing Dao, China)
Ding hit a school record 51-yard field goal as part of a three-for-three day in field goal attempts and extending his consecutive made extra point attempts streak to 13 straight, scoring 10 points in Norwich's ECFC clinching 16-9 win over SUNY-Maritime. The senior's three made field goals tied a single-game school record as now has streak of 10 straight made field goals.

 

 

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Stephan Dance, Husson
(Fr, LB - New London, CT)
Stephan Dance recorded 12 solo tackles (13 total) in the Eagles' loss to the Castleton State Spartans this Saturday. This game marks the third time this season that he's made double digit solo tackles, and the sixth time he's been in double digits in total tackles. The first year linebacker sits in third place in the conference in both solos and total tackles.
