Football Drops 2022 Opener to Wilkes

LA PLUME, Pa.- Mujaheed Muhammad (Philadelphia, Pa./Paul Robeson) rushed for two touchdowns while Tom Roach (Burlington City, N.J./Burlington City) contributed with a touchdown of his own as the Giants suffered a 48-21 defeat to the visiting Wilkes University Colonels Saturday afternoon at the Keystone College Turf Field. With the loss, the Giants drop to 0-1.

Standout Players

With the two rushing touchdowns today, Muhammad had eight carries for 29 yards. Jorden Cook (New Paltz, N.Y./New Paltz) was the leading receiver for Keystone as he recorded 4 catches for 53 yards. On the defensive side, Sean Tocci (Lodi, N.J./Lodi)Frankie Vega (Edison, N.J./Edison), and Carlos Perez (Reading, Pa./Reading) each had a sack on the day. Tocci had two tackles for loss. Sean Pettway (Ellenville, N.Y./Ellenville) led the Giants defense with eight tackles this afternoon.

For the Colonels, quarterback Isaiah Rodriguez completed 17 passes for 200 yards with two touchdowns. Rodriguez, Elijah Jules, Xavier Powell, and Walter Lewis each had a rushing touchdown. The Wilkes defense were led by Angel Ramos who posted eight tackles and a sack. Linebacker Brandon Holcomb snagged a fourth quarter interception. Adam Piston had the only defensive score for Wilkes off of a fumble recovery in the final quarter.

On the day, the Colonels contributed with 375 yards of total offense while the Giants had 201. Each team had a lost fumble on the day.
