Maritime to Face Salisbury in NCAA Postseason

Indianapolis, Ind. - The bracket for the 2019 NCAA Division III Football Championship Tournament was announced on Sunday and Maritime College will travel to seventh-ranked Salisbury University for the First Round on Saturday, Nov. 23.

Maritime is making their second trip to the NCAA Tournament with a 5-5 overall record. The Privateers received the ECFC's automatic bid after recording a 3-2 record in the conference.

The Privateers boast one of the league's top rushers in Hezekiah Williamson (Albany, N.Y.). He leads the ECFC in yards and yards per game while ranking second with six touchdowns. Andrew Geni (Bronx, N.Y.) leads the way on the receiving side of the ball as his 38 catches for 423 yards lead the way for his team. Geni also ranks fifth in the conference with four receiving touchdowns.

Defense has been the name of the game for Maritime this season, limiting their opponents to a league-best 21.6 points per game. The Privateers are coming off an impressive 11-9 win over Mount Saint Joseph this Saturday. The Lions had scored 77 points just a week ago and were averaging 36 points per game until they squared off with Maritime.

Liam Bailey (Sayville, N.Y.) leads the Maritime defense with 90 tackles this season (seven coming for a loss) and has also tacked on an interception. Justin Snuffer (Maple Shade, N.J.) is a defensive threat in may ways for the Privateers. The senior defensive back ranks second on the team with 71 tackles and has also added a forced fumble and four interceptions to his statiscal line this season.
