MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, October 27th.  Maritime (N.Y.) teammates Wayne Betencourt (Bronx, N.Y.) and Joseph Gagliardi (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) earned Defensive Player of the Week and Specials Teams Player of the Week, respectively. Dean’s Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.) was named Offensive Player of the Week, while Alfred State’s Rylie Van Fleet (Endwell, N.Y.) took home Rookie of the Week honors.

Offensive Player of the Week

Terrell Watts – Dean College
(Sophomore, QB – New Haven, Conn.)

Watts was spectacular as the Bulldogs moved into sole possession of first place with Saturday's 56-35 win at Gallaudet. He accounted for five touchdowns - throwing for three and adding two more on the ground as the Bulldogs won their third straight game. He was 20-for-26 for 249 yards with no interceptions and 26 yards on the ground.

Defensive Player of the Week

Wayne Betencourt – Maritime (N.Y.)
(Sophomore, DL - Bronx, N.Y.)

Betencourt led a Privateers defense that allowed only 10 points in a 13-10 win over Anna Maria on Saturday. The sophomore defensive lineman finished with 11 tackles and picked up 3.5 tackles for loss, including a 10-yard sack.

Rookie of the Week

Rylie Van Fleet – Alfred State
(Freshman, DB - Endwell, N.Y.)


Van Fleet had a big day in the defensive backfield for the Pioneers. He was credited with five pass breakups in Alfred State’s 21-15 victory over Castleton. He also finished with eight total tackles, including four solos.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Joseph Gagliardi – Maritime (N.Y.)
(Sophomore, K - Ronkonkoma.N.Y.)

Gagliardi was clutch in Maritime’s 13-10 win over Anna Maria on Saturday. The sophomore kicker nailed a 37-yard field goal with 17 seconds left in regulation to force overtime, then made a 29-yard field goal in overtime to win the game. He also made his lone extra point attempt. Gagliardi punted 8 times for 285 yards and an average of 35.6 yards per punt with a long of 49 and one pinned inside the 20.
