MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, October 20th.  Gallaudet’s RJ Randle McCalla, Ala.) took home Offensive Player of the Week honors, while Dean’s Desmond Dias (Rochester, Mass.) was named Defensive Player of the Week. Alfred State’s Shy’rel Broadwater (Syracuse, N.Y.) earned Rookie of the Week while Maritime’s Joseph Gagliardi (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) garnered Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Offensive Player of the Week

RJ Randle - Gallaudet University
(Junior, FB – McCalla, Ala.)

Junior running back RJ Randle ran for a career-best 239 yards on 14 carries (average of 17.1 per rush) and scored two touchdowns of 32 and 59 yards in the second half as Gallaudet defeated Alfred State, 62-41. The 239 rushing yards in a game is a new program record during the modern era of Gallaudet football. Randle leads the ECFC in rushing with 425 rushing yards on 47 carries in five games (85.0 yards average per game) with five touchdowns.

Defensive Player of the Week

Desmond Dias - Dean College
(Freshman, LB - Rochester, Mass.)

Dias has been a force since being inserted as a starter at linebacker a few weeks back. In Saturday's 41-20 road victory over Anna Maria, Dias ended with a team-best 12 tackles, a pass breakup, a sack and 2.5 tackles for loss of 15 yards, as the Dean defense shined in back-to-back weeks and are now 2-0 in league play.

Rookie of the Week

Shy'rel Broadwater - Alfred State
(Freshman, WR - Syracuse, N.Y.)


Broadwater had a breakout game on Saturday vs. Gallaudet. The freshman wide receiver caught seven passes for 151 yards, including three touchdown passes of 8, 43, and 32 yards. 

Special Teams Player of the Week

Joseph Gagliardi – Maritime (N.Y.)
(Sophomore, K - Ronkonkoma.N.Y.)

Gagliardi was 3-3 on PAT attempts on Saturday. The sophomore also punted 3 times for 126 yards, landing one inside the 20, as Maritime defeated Castleton 21-3.
