MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, September 30th.  Gallaudet University teammates Demontrai Lewis (Trinity, Texas) and Cassmeir Hutchinson (Chesapeake, Va.) were named Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively. Dean College’s Terrell Watts (New Haven, Conn.) earned Offensive Player of the Week, while Castleton University’s Moe Harris (Pine Hill, N.J.) took home Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

Offensive Player of the Week

Terrell Watts – Dean College
(Freshman, QB – New Haven, Conn.)

Watts was outstanding in the Bulldogs' 44-26 win over Alfred State. The first-year signal caller was 19-for-27 (70 percent) for 268 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 45 more yards giving him more than 300 yards of offense. He threw two of his touchdowns to Errol Breaux, including a 61-yard bomb in the second quarter that saw the Bulldogs take control of the contest.

Defensive Player of the Week

Demontrai Lewis – Gallaudet University
(Senior, LB - Trinity, Texas)


Lewis led the Gallaudet defense en route to a 29-9 road win over Anna Maria College last Saturday in the ECFC opener. The senior linebacker led the team with seven tackles (five solo) with two of those tackles ending up in a loss of 28 yards. He also forced a fumble when he sacked the AMC quarterback for a loss of 14 yards in the second quarter.

Rookie of the Week

 

Cassmeir Hutchinson – Gallaudet University
(Freshman, SL – Chesapeake, Va.)

Hutchinson had a career day as he ran for 151 yards on 10 carries (15.1 yards per rush) as he helped to lead Gallaudet to a 29-9 victory over Anna Maria in the ECFC opener on the road. He scored a touchdown on an 80-yard run, his longest of his young career. For the season, he has 290 rushing yards on 19 carries; averaging 15.3 yards per carry and two scores.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Moe Harris – Castleton University
(Junior, RB – Pine Hill, N.J.)
  

Harris had a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, the third of his career and second-longest runback in his time as a Spartan. In total, he returned six kicks for 198 yards, good for an average of 33.0 yards per return. The senior standout also added one touchdown rushing and another touchdown receiving for a three-score day for Castleton.
