MARSHFIELD, Mass. – The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) weekly awards were announced for games through Sunday, September 16th.  Husson University teammates Cory Brandon (Pembroke, Mass.) and Ty Bassett (Dracut, Mass.) earned Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively. Alfred State’s Michael Zimmerman (Canandaigua, N.Y.) was named Defensive Player of the Week, while Dean College’s Quintus Reid (New Haven, Conn.) took home Rookie of the Week honors.

Offensive Player of the Week

Cory Brandon – Husson University
(Senior, QB – Pembroke, Mass.)

Brandon went 28-for-38 through the air with three touchdowns and was the moving force in the back & forth fight of the offenses in second half of a 31-28 loss to Western New England. He threw for 258 yards, an average of 6.8 yards per attempt, with all three touchdown passes coming in the second half, leaving him with a 138.3 efficiency rating. The senior captain directed scoring drives on four of Husson's eight second half possessions after trailing 3-0 at half. The Pembroke, Mass. native struck for touchdowns of 30, 15, and nine yards on the day.

Defensive Player of the Week

Michael Zimmerman – Alfred State
(Junior, SS - Canandaigua, N.Y.)

Zimmerman had a huge game for the Pioneers in a tight 20-14 loss to Rochester. He recorded 11 tackles (six solo and two for a loss) and intercepted a pass. Zimmerman was everywhere in the 1st half as he recorded 10 of his tackles in just two quarters.

Rookie of the Week

Quintus Reid – Dean College
(Freshman, RB – New Haven, Conn.)

Reid was a central figure in the Bulldogs' offensive attack in Saturday's 27-18 loss at Salve Regina. He scored Dean's first touchdown with a two-yard burst and then starred in receiving game, finishing with a game-high five catches for 85 yards - including a 64-yard touchdown reception.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Ty Bassett – Husson University
(Senior, WR – Dracut, Mass.)

The dual-threat of Ty Bassett gave the Eagles the momentum back after Western New England retook the lead with 2:13 remaining in the third quarter in Husson's 31-28 loss to the Golden Bears in a back-and-forth contest. The senior reeled in the proceeding kickoff and took it 94 yards to the house giving the Eagles the 21-17 advantage with 1:59 left in the third. The 94 yard kickoff return is the second longest in program history and Bassett's second career kickoff return touchdown, tying him for the most in HU's football history.
